NPP youth activist Alfred Ababio Kumi, also known as Adenta Kumi, has been charged with publishing false news.
The former parliamentary aspirant, allegedly made false claims on social media and in a radio interview regarding a petition he submitted to the President, calling for the dissolution of the committee probing the Chief Justice.
The petition accused committee members of misconduct that could compromise the inquiry’s integrity.
Kumi alleged that on May 15, 2025, Justices Pwamang and Adibu-Asiedu, along with Justice Yonni Kulendi, met with lawyer Thaddeus Sory at Santoku Restaurant in Accra, where they reportedly discussed the petition.
He also claims the group was overheard talking about matters related to the petition.
The NPP has since expressed outrage over Kumi’s arrest and detention, with General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong condemning the handling of the situation.
