The Member of Parliament for the Efutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has criticized what he described as desperate attempts by political opponents to manipulate ongoing electoral processes in the Suhum and Nsawam Adoagyiri constituencies.

According to him, the opposition appears to be employing various tactics after realizing they have lost key seats in the region.

He expressed satisfaction with the declaration of the Suhum seat in favor of the New Patriotic Party and expressed confidence that constituencies such as Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and others would also be declared in his party’s favor when collation was moved to the National Police Training School at Tesano in Accra.

He noted that while progress is being made in the collation of results, there is no need for undue haste or disruptive behavior.

Afenyo-Markin expressed concern about the actions of some political actors, whom he described as employing aggressive tactics in what he believes to be an attempt to manipulate outcomes in areas they appear to have lost. He emphasized that his party remains committed to upholding democratic values, maintaining peace, and ensuring transparency in all electoral processes.

He highlighted the party’s engagement with relevant authorities to address irregularities and ensure proper declarations in the remaining constituencies. Stressing the importance of following lawful procedures, he assured supporters and the general public that the ongoing processes will yield credible results.

He reaffirmed his party’s resolve to avoid conflict, insisting that all disputes be resolved within the framework of the law.
