The 2026 National Doubles Championship lived up to the hype on Saturday as the Borteyman Sports Complex hosted a day of high-intensity badminton, new champions, and a packed crowd celebrating Ghana’s growing talent.
Organized by the Ghana Badminton Association, the tournament featured Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, with players from across the country competing for national honors.
AHMED ABDUL SAMAD LEADS THE CHARGE
The standout performer of the day was Ahmed Abdul Samad, who claimed two national titles.
In the Men’s Doubles final, Ahmed and partner Ebenezer Kwame Korampong showed resilience to overturn a first-set loss and defeat Leslie Adote Addo and Andy Amofa 19-21, 21-9, 21-13. Their improved coordination and powerful smashes in sets 2 and 3 sealed the win.
Jonathan Ankrah and Francis Obeng Shang settled for bronze.
Ahmed returned to court later and combined with Prospera Nantuo to win Mixed Doubles gold. The pair edged Racheal Quarcoo and Brempong Ofori Acheampong 21-16, 21-20 in a nervy finish that had fans on their feet.
Bronze went to Reuben Teye Tetteh and Jessica Lomotey.
AMOFA AND ASMAH/SULLO DOMINANT
Andy Amofa was untouchable in Men’s Singles. He produced a clinical performance to beat Leslie Adote Addo 21-11, 21-12 and take the title. Reuben Teye Tetteh claimed bronze.
In Women’s Doubles, the experienced duo of Victoria Asmah and Alana Faith Sullo were too strong for their opponents. They won gold with a commanding 21-5, 21-6 victory over Maud Mwinsoma and Innocentia Yevugah.
Silver went to Jessica Lomotey and Prospera Nantuo, while Kezia Efuah Amoah and Stephanie Bequine took bronze.
GBA HAILS “BRIGHT FUTURE”
GBA President Mr Evans Yeboah described the championship as one of the best organized in recent years, citing strong turnout from young players and fans.

With exciting matches and new names on the trophy, the 2026 National Doubles Championship confirmed that the future of Ghana Badminton is indeed shining bright.
