President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning in honour of the late former First Lady of the Republic, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on Thursday, October 23.
In a statement issued by the Presidency and signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the period of mourning begins today, Friday, October 24, and ends on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
During the national mourning period, all national flags are to fly at half-mast across public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations both within and outside the country.
The statement said the declaration is in recognition of Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’ distinguished service to Ghana, particularly in advancing women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.
“Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings served Ghana with dedication and commitment, particularly in women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development,” the statement read.
The government also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, her children, and all who mourn her loss.
