Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is calling for justice to be served following the recent #StopGalamsey protest, where demonstrators allegedly broke the law by blocking major roads and committing other offenses.
The police arrested 53 protestors, detaining them for two weeks, with 52 later granted bail. While acknowledging the protesters’ right to demonstrate, Kufuor emphasizes that their actions were unacceptable and must face legal consequences.
Kufuor also recognizes the complexity of the illegal mining issue, which has led to environmental degradation, water pollution, and health problems. He advocates for a multifaceted approach to address this menace, which has been a significant concern for both the government and citizens.
