AshantiGold chief slams C.K Akunnor over ‘illegal’ Amos Addai pursuit

Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold SC Frederick Acheampong has lambasted Charles Akunnor’s attitude over the pursuit of Amos Addai and a few of their players.

Addai has been heavily linked with a move to the Porcupine Warriors since Charles Akunnor joined the Kumasi-based outfit a fortnight ago.

The 24-year-old attacker reiterated his desire to make the switch after confirming to be in constant contact with the former Dreams FC gaffer.

However, the AshantiGold chief has deemed the approach by their former coach as unfortunate.

“Amos Addai told me C.K Akonnor called him not once but several times. C.K Akonnor should stop calling our players, he is no more our coach he should concentrate on his new club and stop calling our players” the AshantiGold CEO fumed on Kessben FM.

“Not only Amos Addai but some of other players too,  he is using his relationship with the players to try and convince them to join him at Kotoko,” he added.

“I want to tell C.K that things are not the same as it used to be, he thought Amos’ contract was running out so he was trying to convince him not to renew his contract. Not knowing the player renewed his contract some weeks ago. If  Kotoko want our players they should write officially to AshantiGold and stop calling our players. That is not the right way,” he explained.

Tapping-up of players under contract is illegal and punishable by the football regulations.
