Former Ghana international, Augustine Arhinful, has said he is surprised by the composition of the 3-man committee selected by the Ghana Football Association to appoint a new head coach for the Black Stars.

The GFA Executive Council appointed a three-member committee led by Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Dr Randy Abbey to find a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours on Monday after Charles Kwablan Akonnor was sacked.

The composition of the team to select and appoint a new head coach for the senior national team has raised eyebrows as there is no technical member on the committee.

According to Augustine Arhinful, it’s inappropriate to appoint a coach without any input from the Technical Directorate or an expert.

“That has been the norm, selecting coaches by people who don’t have the technical know-how. It’s not normal. Don’t we have other technical people in the country?”, he told Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9 FM.

Arhinful proposed the Ghana FA selects a competent coach that changes the fortunes of the Black Stars in the shortest possible time.

“We should look for someone who will take us to the next level. I wanted a local person to be there but do we give them the free hands to work? No, so let’s go in for the best”.

Augustine added that should the next coach appointed fail the GFA hierarchy should be questioned.

“If the next coach who comes also fails to deliver then heads must roll at the Ghana FA”.
“We said Kwesi Appiah was not good, CK Akonnor isn’t good either then heads must roll if the next coach doesn’t perform”.

The Ghana FA will announce a new head coach in the next coming days.
