Ghanaian athlete Aziz Mohammed has etched his name in the history books of national athletics by setting a new U-20 record in the men’s 5000m event. This remarkable feat was achieved during the 2019 U20 Athletics Championship held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The men’s 5000m final saw fierce competitors from across Africa, with Kenya’s Edward Zakayo Pingua taking the gold with a remarkable time of 13:13.06, followed closely by compatriot Jacob Krop, who finished at 13:14.44. The podium was completed by Reuben Longosiwa, also from Kenya, clocking in at 13:43.46.
