Food enthusiast, Berthy Kpiebaya (Sugar Kpiebaya), has been adjudged the ultimate winner of Promasidor Ghana’s keenly contested 2024 Onga Jollof Battle to mark this year’s World Jollof Day celebration.

The fierce battle for culinary supremacy among 102 online contestants saw Sugar Kpiebaya displaying exceptional usage of Onga products, and creativity to bag the ultimate cash prize of GHS 5,000, the 2024 bragging rights and an array of Onga products. Emmanuel Mensah (Chef Manuel) came second, winning GHS 3,000 cash prize and assorted products while Khadijah Khalid ranked third, receiving GHS 2,000 and assorted products from Promasidor.

Sugar Kpiebaya couldn’t hide her excitement saying, “I am honored that my cooking entry has been recognized as the ultimate entry by the leading culinary brand, ONGA. I am grateful to Onga for this rare opportunity given us to creatively showcase the different ways of making jollof.” She entreated Ghanaians to look forward to more creative food content made with Onga.

Commenting on this year’s edition, the Marketing Manager at Promasidor Ghana, Michael Hagan said: “As a leading culinary brand, known for delivering meals with superior taste and aroma, we explored a new direction to our annually Organized Jollof festival to further exhibit our versatility as a brand and also open up to our cherished consumers, granting them the opportunity to share with Ghanaians the different ways of making the globally accepted Jollof meal. In all, we received over 102 unique recipe videos online”.

He congratulated all contestants for doing a great job and incorporating Onga Seasonings (tablets and powders) as well as Soya Chunks into their Jollof meals. “Our participants have shown that the preparation of jollof is incomplete without the taste of ONGA”

Aside the top 3 winners, 29 impressive entries were awarded with Onga goodies and shopping vouchers, while the remaining 70 participants went home with Onga goodies.

Onga Jollof Battle is an annual party-themed cooking contest organised by the brand to mark the celebration of World Jollof Day. Onga is Ghana’s number one seasoning made from herbs and spices; the product has a wide range of unique flavours that give meals the superior taste and aroma they deserves. Onga Seasoning comes in tablet and powder formats and in different variants including Onga Shrimp, Onga Stew, Onga Classic, Onga Chicken, Onga 3-mix, Onga Beef and the newly introduced Onga Soybean Protein Chunks.
