Former Ghana Football Association Vice President and football administrator, Kojo Yankah, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs within the national football team.

In an interview on Happy Sports with Nana Fosu Appiah, he stated, “If Kurt Okraku isn’t serious, how can the team perform?”. He emphasized the critical role leadership plays in the success of the team. The Black Stars’ lackluster performance in the ongoing AFCON tournament has raised concerns, with Ghana failing to secure a victory in all three group stage matches.

Yankah refrained from placing blame on the players, instead, directing his critique towards the top hierarchy of the football association. “I will not blame the players; if the rot in the team is from the top hierarchy, how can those below perform?”. Kojo Yankah also highlighted the need for a cohesive and unified football community.

The Ghana national team’s final Group B game against Mozambique ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw despite leading by two goals in the 90th minute.

This means Ghana missed out on automatic qualification to the knockout stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The road ahead for the Black Stars seems uncertain, with calls for introspection and changes at the top to revitalize Ghana’s footballing fortunes.
