Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadoms believes his low scoring ratio at new club Jiangsu Suning indicates the toughness of the Chinese Super League.
Boakye-Yiadom joined Jiangsu Suning on a three-year deal from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade in February.
The 24-year-old was heavily chastised for opting for the Jiangsu offer after snubbing interest from some of the top flight leagues in Europe.
However, the striker has failed to replicate his form for Jiangsu since joining in February, scoring 2 goals in 8 appearances.
“Most people in Europe don’t see the Chinese League as a difficult one,” Boakye said, as reported by Citinewsroom.
“You need to play in it to believe it [toughness], because I used to score a lot of goals in Serbia.”
“I have played eight matches since [I came to China] and I have scored only two goals.”
“This means that I have to work harder.”
Boakye-Yiadom scored 27 goals in two seasons for Red Star Belgrade in 30 league games as well as notching up four times in four matches in the Serbian Cup, in addition to eight goals in 14 outings in Europe.
