Former Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong says the performance of the team against Al Hilal in the first round of the CAF Champions League was below standard.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Sudanese giants at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday in the first leg.

Al Hilal scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute through substitute Bongoa.

Kotoko showed a lackluster performance and were poor in the game leading to agitations from the fans after the game.
According to Amos Frimpong, the performance of the team was poor on the day compared to that against Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on the team’s defeat to Al Hilal he said, “The performance of the players was down compared to that of the Dreams FC game.

“It wasn’t a bad performance though. After winning against Dreams we were thinking the players will head into the game with that motivation.

“There is still more room for improvement, we should throw our support behind the team ahead of the second leg.

Amos Frimpong called on the supporters and management to find a way to motivate the team ahead of the second leg.
“We should all contribute to help the team find a way to qualify. The management should find a way to motivate the players and not kill their motivation”

Asante Kotoko travel to Omdurman for the second leg on January 5, 2021.
