The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has issued a strong warning to government appointees, urging them to prove their loyalty by working effectively to demonstrate their allegiance to the NPP or face their wrath.

Speaking on a Kumasi based radio station, he recalled that in 2016, the party had no ministers, CEOs, or board chairmen stating that those appointtees secured those positions only after winning the elections.

He emphasized that if appointees fail to justify the reasons for their appointments, they will face consequences.

Chairman Wontumi challenged these appointees to actively campaign and do so effectively, as successful efforts will be evident to all.

He pointed out that individuals like Dr. Bawumia and Samira Bawumia do not need to declare their campaigning efforts because their actions speak for themselves, just like Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate.

He highlighted that Dr. Bawumia, as the flagbearer of the party is actively proving why he should be the next president, while Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Samira Bawumia are equally demonstrating why they should be vice president and first lady, respectively.

Even the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo according to Chairman Wontumi, is working hard to solidify his role as the leader of the party to ensure an NPP victory.

Chairman Wontumi added that those who supported Dr. Bawumia during the primaries must now focus on helping him achieve the ultimate goal of becoming president. He stressed that while their support during the primaries was commendable, it remains incomplete if they do not contribute to Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign.

He also mentioned that even those who did not initially support Dr. Bawumia, like Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, are now working to ensure his victory.
