The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the rescheduling of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) originally slated for February 2025, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The tournament will now take place in August 2025. This decision according to CAF reflects its commitment to ensuring world-class infrastructure and facilities for the prestigious event.

CAF noted that significant progress has been made in the three host nations, including the construction and renovation of stadiums, training fields, hotels, and healthcare facilities.

However, CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts have advised that additional time is needed to meet the high standards required for a successful championship.

“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) today announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 to August 2025,” CAF said in a statement

“Good progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the hosting of a successful Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024.”

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe commended the efforts of the host nations’ leaders – President William Ruto of Kenya, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda – for their unwavering dedication to the project.

He expressed confidence that the upgraded infrastructure would enhance the tournament experience for teams and fans alike.

The official draw for the tournament will take place in Nairobi on Jan
