President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that the number of positive coronavirus cases stands at 8,070 with 2947 recoveries and 36 deaths. He also noted that “13 persons are severely ill with 3 persons critically ill for which one is on a ventilator”.

He was, however, positive that the number of Coronavirus cases have been a milder manifestation of what was antcipated.

He made these statements in his 10th address to nation on Sunday, 31st May, 2020.

“Our hospitalization and death rates have been persistently very low;some of the lowest in Africa and in the world. The Ghanaian people are not dying with the virus in the hundreds and thousands that were earlier anticipated and that are being seen on a daily basis in other countries.

Indeed we are witnesssing a much milder manifestation of the virus in the country that was initially feared”, he said.

He attributed these results to the “grace of God and the measures taken by Government”

He added also that “our ability to trace, test and treat people with the virus has improved considerably”.

President Nana Addo announced that based on data and stakeholder consultations, some restrictions such as the ban on social gathering will be eased.
