The Deputy Finance Minister and Asuogyaman MP, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, commissioned major electricity projects in Awurahae and Sarpor communities on December 25, 2025 as part of Christmas activities.
Funded primarily from his personal resources with support from the Volta River Authority (VRA) and local communities, the projects mark a significant milestone for residents who have long awaited reliable electricity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ampem Nyarko highlighted the symbolic timing, saying, “The birth of Jesus Christ represents light in darkness, and today, we bring that light to Awurahae and Sarpor.
“He credited President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership for enabling the project and fulfilled a long-standing promise to residents.
Community members expressed profound gratitude, anticipating improved education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. “This gift will transform our lives,” said a local leader.
Mr. Ampem Nyarko recalled past frustrations expressed by residents living without electricity and urged support for his re-election and President Mahama’s campaign for continued progress.
