Resident Imam at the Osu Castle, Sheikh Mohammed Bagaya, has advised Muslim Youth not to be involved in any political violence during the General elections.

In an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he stated that Muslim Youth must engage in their holy acts even after Ramadan has ended.

“How do you translate the spiritual journey you have embarked on for 29 days into political violence when you are supposed to live with the light guiding your path to become an excellent example? It doesn’t make any sense for a good Muslim to do so”, he said.

He noted that even though he has not seen any political violence being perpetrated by Muslim youths in Nima, Mamobi and Accra Newtown, he will still appeal to the youth not to engage in such acts.

“It is often said that election violence is prevalent in our Zongo communities where our Muslim youth live. However, in all my stay around Nima, Mamobi and Newtown, I have not seen any political violence in these areas. But I wish we will never see that for the rest of our lives. But what we will like to see is that we don’t allow ourselves to be used for political violence. We pray and hope that our young ones will desist from that. We shouldn’t see any Muslim young man involved in this”, he added.

He appealed to the Muslim youths to live a life that is a quality reflection of their relationship with God during the Ramadan.
