The Minority in Parliament has given president Akufo-Addo a three-day ultimatum to distribute ambulances procured for the one Constituency one ambulance program.

Addressing the media minority spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Minta Akandor said the ambulances, some which are parked in Parliament must be distributed to serve their purpose.

The over 300 ambulances bought by the government have been parked at the Parliament car park since they arrived in the country several months ago.

The arrival of the ambulances is part of the fulfilment of a promise made by President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP Government in the build-up to the 2016 general elections.

Speaking in an interview, Ibrahim Alhassan, Mr Minta Akandor said the excuse being given by the government to keep the ambulances at the car park are untenable.

“We have been struggling to understand why this government has failed to prioritise the health sector. People have been dying every day for lack of ambulances. As you can all see behind us these ambulances have been parked here for months.

“We are calling on the president to immediately distribute the ambulances that are available so they could serve its purpose. If you park the ambulances as they have done, I think that we are doing a disservice to the country.

“We are giving the president a maximum of three days to distribute the ambulances.”
