The former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus over his anticipated £55 million transfer from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham has reportedly reached an agreement with West Ham for the 24-year-old, who is expected to complete his medical on Thursday before signing a six-year contract with the North London club.
If finalised, the move will be notable as the first direct transfer between the two London clubs since Scott Parker’s switch in 2011.
Dr. Bawumia, a long-time Tottenham supporter, took to Facebook to express his joy.
“I am excited to see our Ghanaian starboy make this move to my Tottenham Hotspur. All the best in your medical Kudus Mohammed,” he sated.
Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 and quickly impressed in his debut Premier League season with his speed, creativity, and ability to play across multiple attacking roles. His performances attracted interest from several elite European clubs.
Kudus’ high-profile move adds to the rising influence of Ghanaian footballers on the global stage and is expected to boost his standing ahead of Ghana’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
