Reggae and dancehall musician Ras Kuuku has stirred conversation once again. This time, not with music, but with a heartfelt reflection on Ghana’s history and leadership.
During an exclusive interview with Akua Sika on Happy Evening Drive on Happy 98.9FM, the “The Me & You Tonight” hitmaker described Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as “Ghana’s greatest ancestor of all time”, even likening him to Abraham, the biblical father of nations. With genuine admiration in his tone, Ras Kuuku said no leader in Ghana’s history can ever compare to Dr Kwame Nkrumah, especially considering how he led the country to independence and championed massive infrastructure development before being overthrown.
According to him, Ghanaians of that era simply misunderstood Nkrumah’s vision, both for the nation and for Africa as a whole. “He saw far ahead of his time,” Ras Kuuku said, “but the people didn’t fully get it.”
The Puom leader also opened up about his personal beliefs, describing himself as someone who respects all faiths and religions. “I believe in whatever everyone believes in,” he said. “I may not follow your religion, but I’ll never condemn it. What matters is love, unity, and understanding each other.”
It was a rare glimpse into the thoughtful side of an artist often known for his streetwise charm and lyrical fire, proving that sometimes, even in music, wisdom and history still find their way into the conversation.
