A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) and national stakeholders to prioritize and protect Ghana’s democratic peace.

In a statement issued on December 3, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe appealed to key figures in the country to fulfill their roles in ensuring stability and fairness ahead of the December 7 elections.

Addressing the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stressed the EC’s responsibility in conducting a free and fair election, urging her to ensure the process is carried out with integrity and impartiality. He reminded her of the EC’s history of fairness, transparency, and neutrality.

“You are not the first to hold this esteemed office, and you will not be the last. The legacy of this institution has always been one of fairness, transparency, and impartiality.” He stated.

He also urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to show the same commitment to peace and fairness, ensuring that the EC and other state institutions uphold public trust. He pointed to the successful elections of 2016 and 2020 as evidence of Ghana’s democratic strength, encouraging the president to maintain this standard.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe further called on the clergy, chiefs, and members of the Council of State to speak out during times of national crisis. He urged them to use their influence to promote peace, accountability, and stability, advising them not to align with political interests.

To the people of Ghana, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized the need to stay vigilant and put the country’s future above partisan interests.

He urged all citizens to demand peace, fairness, and accountability from all institutions involved in the election process.

“To my fellow Ghanaians, I urge you to stay vigilant. Let us not allow partisan loyalties to blind us to the dangers we face. This is a time to prioritize the future of Ghana above all else. Our collective voice must call for peace, fairness, and accountability from every institution”, he urged.
