Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the three-term Member of Parliament for Klottey–Korle, has been appointed as a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan African Parliament (PAP), a key legislative organ of the African Union (AU).
The appointment marks a significant milestone in Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’s political career, reflecting her growing influence on the continental stage.
As per the rules of the AU, each member state must include at least one woman in their delegation to PAP, an objective Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’s selection supports.
The Pan African Parliament plays a pivotal role in promoting democratic governance, advancing the values of Pan-Africanism, and enhancing cooperation among the national parliaments of AU member states.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, who is also the Chairperson of Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Security and Intelligence, brings to the role a unique blend of expertise as a medical doctor, humanitarian and environmental advocate, and conflict resolution specialist.
Her diverse background is expected to enrich the work of the PAP, particularly in areas concerning public health, security, and sustainable development.
