A protest by commercial drivers at the Lapaz Dome Station in Accra has left hundreds of commuters stranded, disrupting the morning rush and causing heavy traffic in the area.
The drivers, who have operated from the station for years, allege that a homeowner is attempting to eject them to make space for a one-week funeral observation ceremony scheduled for Friday.
They described the move as unfair, insisting that it threatens their livelihoods. “We will not allow any vehicle to move if we are prevented from working at our main station,”
Passengers, visibly frustrated by the lack of transportation, expressed anger and disappointment over the situation. The demonstration brought traffic to a standstill as drivers blocked the road, refusing to let any vehicles pass until their concerns are addressed.
