The Electoral Commission (EC) has temporarily halted the collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency due to unresolved issues with results from seven polling stations.

The suspension is intended to allow the commission to verify and authenticate the results before continuing with the final collation.

Before the collation exercise on Monday, January 6, results from 20 polling stations were pending. So far, presiding officers have successfully authenticated 13 pink sheets submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). However, the process was paused as the commission had been unable to reach the presiding officers responsible for the remaining seven polling stations.

Returning officer Vincent Obeng indicated that the matter would be referred to the commission for further action since the necessary verifications could not be completed in the absence of the presiding officers.

“As we began this morning, I told you we are left with 20 polling stations and I called my presiding officers to come and authenticate, and NDC also tendered in three pink sheets, two of which the presiding officers had already authenticated, so we were able to do extra making 13 polling stations.

“So as it stands now, we are still left with seven polling stations to be confirmed by the presiding officers. Since they are not here, I refer the work to the commission to decide on that,” he stated.
