The Ministry of Education has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to expedite investigations into the recent attack on teachers at West Africa Secondary School (WASS).
The incident, which occurred on Friday, February 13, reportedly involved a student who allegedly mobilised a group of individuals to invade the school premises and assault some members of staff.
Speaking in an interview, the Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, assured the public that those responsible would be brought to justice once identified.
He stressed that school campuses must remain safe spaces dedicated to learning and character formation, warning that authorities would not allow a few indisciplined individuals to disrupt the academic progress of serious students.
“Campuses as we see them are citadels for grooming character, and so we cannot allow a few truant individuals to destabilise students who want to pursue their academic credentials to higher levels. We at the Ministry of Education are not sleeping on this matter,” he said.
According to him, the Minister has instructed the Ghana Education Service to “crack the whip” on issues concerning assaults on teachers, signaling a firm stance against violence in schools.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring discipline, safety, and respect for educators across the country’s educational institutions.
