The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to remain vigilant as Ghanaians prepare to vote on Saturday, December 7.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, December 6, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Communications Director for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of employing questionable tactics to secure votes, particularly areas he referred to as NDC strongholds.

Aboagye highlighted an incident involving the District Electoral Officer (DEO) of Afadjato South in the Volta Region, who was reportedly transporting election materials in a private vehicle without police escort. Despite the Ghana Police Service questioning the officer, no arrest has been made in over 24 hours, prompting the NPP to demand answers.

He also pointed to the developmental projects initiated by the NPP’s presidential candidate in the Volta Region, suggesting that these achievements have made the NDC uneasy, leading to what he described as unnecessary and disruptive actions.

“Dr. Bawumia and the NPP, of course, have made a very, very lasting impact in the Volta Region, the numerous developments, the huge impact of our interventions in the region have made a very, very strong indication there, and that is obviously making the NDC uncomfortable, and the reason why they are resorting to some of these unnecessary and disturbing tactics”, he said.

Aboagye called on the Ghana Police Service to provide an update on the investigation involving the NDC secretary caught with over 20,000 ballot papers, allegedly intended for training Togolese nationals to participate in Ghana’s elections through illegal means. He urged security agencies to intensify their vigilance across the country to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.

“In addition, we are asking the Ghana police service to provide the status report on the investigation of the NDC secretary who was caught with over 20,000 ballot papers in his possession with the intention of going to Togo through an illegal route to train Togolese to come participate in our elections”, he said.
