Members of Ghana’s entertainment industry have appealed to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama to place the development of the movie industry and the welfare of its stakeholders at the forefront of his administration’s agenda.

Speaking to happyghana.com’s Nana Antwi Boasiako ahead of the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at Black Star Square in Accra, member of the Entertainment industry Mawuli the Governor voiced concern over the sector’s struggles during Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

“The industry faced numerous challenges under the previous administration, leading to the near-collapse of the Ghanaian movie sector, despite persistent efforts by stakeholders, our pleas for support were largely ignored, leaving us in a dire situation,” Mawuli lamented.

Expressing optimism in the incoming administration, Mawuli called on President Mahama to deliver on his campaign promises of revitalizing the entertainment industry.

“We believe in this new government and are pleading with President Mahama to prioritize the growth of our industry. The movie sector has the potential to contribute significantly to the economy, and we trust his leadership to bring positive change,” he said.
