In a moving address on behalf of seven newly sworn-in Supreme Court Justices, Justice Senyo Dzamefe assured Ghanaians of the judiciary’s unwavering commitment to fairness, impartiality, and constitutional fidelity.

Speaking moments after the swearing-in ceremony presided over by President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, Justice Dzamefe pledged that the new justices would uphold the highest standards of judicial integrity.

“To the people of Ghana, we promise to dispense justice to all manner of persons without fear, favour, ill will, or affection. We also promise equal justice under the law,”.

Justice Dzamefe offered heartfelt thanks to the families of the newly appointed justices, acknowledging the sacrifices and support that made their elevation possible.

“For some of us, the road to this moment has been exceptionally long. But our families never gave up on us.They continued to pray, support, and encourage us, believing that this day would come. And finally, it has.”

He shared a personal reflection, recalling his children’s repeated question; “Daddy, how come your name hasn’t been on the list?”, “Today, that question is over. Our names are there now.”

Justice Dzamefe invoked divine guidance for their journey ahead.

“We pray that the good Lord gives us the strength to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to us. May God bless our homeland Ghana and bless us all.”

The newly appointed justices elevated from the Court of Appeal are expected to bolster the Supreme Court’s capacity to handle complex constitutional, electoral, and civil matters.

Their appointments follow parliamentary approval and reflect a broader effort to reinforce judicial independence and public trust in Ghana’s legal system.
