Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, has expressed interest in the presidential seat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The former Juventus and Fenerbahçe midfielder in an interview bemoaned how former Ghanaian footballers and legends are often excluded from the activities of the Football Association.

“Sometimes the legends, the former players don’t get the chance to share their sporting knowledge and I have observed that. Running football is not about the grammar that one uses. I hope that one of us will one day have the chance to come and lead Ghana football”.

Appiah, who captained the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments, expressed his willingness to serve and believes other former players share his passion if allowed to add their quota.

“Some of us are very humble…We all want to help” he said.

Appiah led the senior national team of Ghana to several tournaments including two FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The 42-year-old announced his retirement from football in 2012, having played for several clubs including Juventus, Parma, Udinese, Cesena, Bologna, Fenerbahçe, and Brescia.

The next election for the Ghana Football Association presidential seat is slated for October this year.
