Five personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred early Sunday while they were responding to a fire outbreak in Buipe township in the Savannah Region.
The Savannah Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, DOII Salisu Mohammed Sirilbaini, confirmed the incident to journalists. He explained that the Buipe Fire Station received a distress call about a surface fire, which led to the immediate deployment of fire officers to the scene.
According to him, the fire engine veered off the road and overturned upon arrival, resulting in injuries to five firefighters. The injured officers were rushed to the Buipe Government Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition.
