The National Chairman of the United Party, Alhaji Siddique Boniface, has revealed that he joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Speaking on Epa Hoa Daben on Happy FM with host Bismark Brown, Alhaji Boniface explained that former president Kufuor discovered his potential at a young age and encouraged him to join the NPP. At the time, he was an independent candidate, and many people opposed his move to the party because he was not originally a member.
“Anytime I hear Kufuor’s name, I feel happy because of what he did for me,” he said.
Alhaji Boniface recounted that Kufuor appointed him to several key ministerial positions, including Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Agriculture, Minister for Labour, and Minister for Youth Employment. As the Youth Employment Minister, he rolled out a program that created job opportunities for about 175,000 young people.
He also highlighted his role in helping to bring peace to Dagbon during his tenure.
Alhaji Boniface emphasized that his political mission was never to destroy any political party but rather to contribute positively to nation building and strengthen his party.
