The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested a candidate for allegedly presenting forged documents during the ongoing military recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
The suspect was picked up on Thursday, November 20, 2025, as screening resumed following an eight-day suspension triggered by a stampede that killed six applicants and injured several others.
More than 1,000 applicants have since been processed under new safety protocols introduced to control crowd numbers and prevent disorder.
Director of Protocol for the GAF, Colonel Evelyn Asamoah, said the incident demonstrates that security checks are being rigorously enforced.
“The individual has been handed over to the appropriate security authorities and will be dealt with according to established procedures,” she stated.
She warned that the military will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who attempts to enter the service through fraudulent means, stressing that integrity remains a key requirement for enlistment.
The recruitment, now being conducted in smaller controlled batches, will continue over the next few days as officials verify applicant details, assess physical fitness and conduct background checks.
