Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has given up 60% of his salary and other performance based related bonuses in order to stay at Turkish Superlig side Kayserispor for one more season.
Despite been linked with a move to the American USL Championship, the Ghanaian who has one year left on his contract and with injuries ravaging his season, feels he must pay the club back by slashing the salary and continuing for a year at least.
Injuries hampered Gyan’s progress as he only made 17 appearances, scoring four goals in all competitions this ended season.
Kayserispor Club President Erol Bedir confirmed the details of the new deal; “Asamoah Gyan, as it is known, injury, unluckiness or other technical reasons did not find a chance to form enough and on behalf of our team, as well as on behalf of our team did not meet.
Our contract, which is 1 + 1 year contract, continues as it was in the year when the contract and economic conditions passed. So regardless of its performance, there is a guaranteed price to be awarded in this year, as in the case of other players.
Nevertheless; for whatever reason, even though our player, who is not happy with the performance of the year we passed, has been on vacation, he has been in constant contact with us, signing a new contract with his own volition and willingness to send a club.
According to this new contract, Gyan has reduced his warranty fee by 50-60 percent, giving up performance compensation, and giving up what he has been paying for this year”
