Ghanaian Psychologist Patrick Ofori has said the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi should be given a psychological attention immediately in order to avert any fluky future damage.
In an interview with Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Dr Ofori indicated that the embattled former Ghana FA president needs a broader recommendation to help him overcome the current trauma he is going through.
“Psychological support or attention should not only be limited to Nyantakyi alone but the rest of his family example, the wives and the children, how are they taking this whole thing. So the broader recommendation is that he [Nyantakyi] and the family will need support and that support is basically emotional, informational and tangible support that may help them avert any future damage or occurrences,” he told Happy FM.
Dr Ofori also advised Mr Nyantakyi on how to be stable minded despite his current predicament.
“He needs somebody who more or less is a neutral person out of the game and doesn’t really understand football as a mirror for him to reflect everything and pour it out to that person for him to support him through the process.”
“He also needs somebody who is very experienced level headed, who has seen it all, who can also offer that kind of help support to his wives and children. This is where the wives, old students, president or the religion he belongs to should step in to provide support for him.
Dr Ofori recommendation comes on the backdrop of recent corruption allegations that have rocked the foundation of football in the country, to the extent of government taking steps to dissolve the GFA and embattled President Nyantakyi attracting FIFA ban and also resigning.
Mr Nyantakyi was filmed allegedly accepting a cash gift from an undercover journalist, a move that breaches FIFA’s code of ethics.
The Wa All Stars bankroller allegedly took $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover Tiger Eye Pi reporter pretending to be a businessman.
He has since resigned from his positions as Ghana FA boss and 1st CAF Vice president.
