Ghanaian middle-distance runner Aziz Mohammed put in a stellar performance at the recent West Texas A&M home meet, securing second place in the 1500m with an impressive time of 3:44 seconds.
This achievement etched Mohammed’s name into the school’s record books, solidifying his position as the second-fastest runner in West Texas history for the event.
Following the race, Mohammed expressed his delight, stating, “Running 3:44 in the 1500m yesterday was something amazing to me as an athlete.” He acknowledged the room for improvement and his dedication to the training process, saying, “It tells me to work harder because there’s more room for improvement, and I trust the process always.”
Mohammed also emphasized the importance of his support system, expressing gratitude to his coaches and teammates. “Thanks to my coaches and my teammates for helping me out yesterday,” he said, “it was one of the priceless moments for me.”
Mohammed’s performance not only placed him second in school history but also ranked him fourth in the NCAA Division II for the current season. This promising young athlete is one to watch for in the future.
