Former Asante Kotoko forward Kofi Nti Boakye has shared his experience on being quarantined for the coronavirus for two weeks.

Kofi Boakye Nti who plays for Kuwait side Khaitan Sporting club arrived in the country in May being among the 241 Ghanaian deportees from Kuwait.

As part of measures to curb the importation of the coronavirus, government-directed that all travellers arriving in the country amid the pandemic will have to be quarantined for two weeks to test for the virus. Thus, the 241 Ghanaian deportees were quarantined at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram.

Kofi Nti Boakye in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy 98.9FM opened up on being in isolation for two weeks.

“I was part of the 241 Ghanaians who were deported to Ghana from Kuwait three weeks ago.

“We arrived in the country and were sent to the isolation centre at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram”.

“We were tested for COVID-19 before being airlifted to Ghana. When we arrived at the isolation centre, we got to found out that four people had to a share a room and I protested against it.

“It wasn’t a good experience being in quarantine because we were not supposed to be sleeping four in a room. I had to talk to the authorities before I could get a room with my teammate. Apart from that, we were taken good care of”.

The Khaitan forward is currently with his family and hoping to return to Kuwait when the season begins. The Kuwait League has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
