The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has taken former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, into custody.

Reports indicate that she was taken into custody on Friday, March 7, 2025, and has since been denied bail.

Some sources also allege that she has been moved to an undisclosed location, with her husband being denied access to her.

On February 4, 2025, a video emerged showing Gifty Oware-Mensah arriving at Kotoka International Airport, following reports that she had gone into hiding as the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) intensified its investigation.

Reports also showed that Gifty Oware-Mensah was set to present herself to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for investigation.

According to sources, she was in Morocco with the female national team in her capacity as Chairperson of the Management Committee. It is also claimed that she planned to return to Ghana with the team and make herself available for accountability.

Gifty Oware-Mensah has been heavily implicated in the NSS ghost name scandal.

Reports suggest that she oversaw the payment of allowances into the accounts of 81,885 nonexistent service personnel.
