The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has strongly criticized the Mahama administration for the increasing number of attacks on journalists.

Mr. Dwumfour disclosed that since President John Dramani Mahama took office, seven incidents of journalist assaults have been recorded, calling the situation “unprecedented.”

Expressing concern over the lack of accountability, he condemned the government’s failure to take firm action against the perpetrators.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, February 18, he noted with dismay that just 50 days into Mahama’s second term, Ghana has already witnessed seven assaults on journalists, a situation he described as unacceptable.

He urged the government and law enforcement agencies to act swiftly to safeguard press freedom and ensure that journalists can work without fear of violence or intimidation.
