Spokesperson for customers of the defunct gold dealership, Menzgold, Kwabena Bonsu says that, the Akuffo-Addo led government acted irresponsibly in the approach taken towards the entire Menzgold saga.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ he stated that, “The government should have closed down the business, seized and audited their books to verify their business practices rather than do a lip service of warning customers of the business [Menzgold] operating illegally.”

According to him, customers of the defunct gold dealership would have been grateful if the government had seized and sold assets of the company to compensate them after finding discrepancies in their books after auditing.

“We would have been grateful even if we received 50% of the money we invested. No one would’ve blamed the government for doing its best to save our investments if they had acted swiftly to close down the business rather than just warn us at the initial stages.”

He lamented on the constant criticism from the government and urged the government and other prominent Ghanaians to throw their weight behind customers of Menzgold as they fight to retrieve their locked investments.

Customers of Menzgold are to validate their documents in order to receive their money. The exercise is scheduled to start from the 28th of October to the 28th of November 2019.
