GPL Week 12: WAFA thump AshGold 6-1

WAFA recorded their biggest win in the ongoing season on match day 12 as they thumped AshantiGold 6-1 at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

The academy lads were in their elements on the day as they ended their four game unbeaten run at home with this massive win against the miners.

Konadu Yiadom began the demolishing exercise for WAFA with the first goal of the game.

AshantiGold responded quickly with and got an equalizer through Amos Kofi Nkrumah.

WAFA restored their lead again through Amos Kofi Nti. The home side went into the break leading the tie by 2-1 against the visitors.

Ibrahim Abukari scored from the spot kick in the opening minutes of the second to increase the lead for WAFA.

Konadu Yiadom got his brace in the 75th minute with WAFA’s fourth goal of the game.

Daniel Owusu and Haruna Mola completed the exercise with the fourth and fifth goal respectively as the academy side recorded the biggest win in the ongoing season.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Elmina Sharks held Hearts of Oak to a draw in this match day 12 fixture.

Elmina Sharks took the lead through Dennis Mensah in the opening minutes of the first half.

Hearts of Oak got the equalizer through Kofi Kordzi after he directed the ball into the net from a cross.

The first half ended with both sides leveled up on the score sheet.

Elmina Sharks were resolute in defense as they prevented the Phobians from scoring in the second half.
