The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo has announced the return of the regional sanitation Day from Friday February 28, 2025.

According to her, the Regional Sanitation Day aims at strengthening waste management and enhancing community engagement.

“It is imperative that we continue to strengthen waste management strategies, enhance community engagement, and enforce sanitation regulations to maintain a hygienic environment”.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Ocloo urged Ghanaians to embrace the upcoming Regional Sanitation Day, set for Friday, February 28, 2025.

“I urge you to embrace the Regional Sanitation Day to make it a success.”

As part of this initiative, Madam Ocloo mentioned that, a team has been established at the Regional Coordinating Council to monitor and award the cleanest city.

“A team has been set up at the Regional Coordinating Council to monitor and award the cleanest city initiative”.

The Minister further emphasized her earlier promise to address the region’s street lighting needs.

“Within 50 days in office, major highways in the region will be lighted. The provision and maintenance of street lights are crucial for security and urban development”.

She added that, “I am encouraged to learn that the assembly has implemented a structured maintenance plan for street lighting, ensuring that our streets are well-lit. This not only enhances safety but also contributes to economic activities by extending business hours in key commercial areas”.
