The Ghana Tourism Authority, in commemoration of this year’s Ghana Culture Week, organized a culinary celebration of the nation’s rich cultural heritage on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Stakeholders from Ghana’s tourism and creative arts sectors joined the celebrations, which took place at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park Gardens. The event featured 68 Ghanaian dishes on display, symbolizing Ghana’s 68th anniversary.

The Guest of Honour, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, was joined by the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, along with other dignitaries, to officially open the event.

In her opening address, the Minister noted that the “Taste 68 @ 68” food fair offers Ghanaians the opportunity to relive and experience the country’s rich cultural heritage.

She emphasized the significance of the event, highlighting how it draws Ghanaians from far and wide to not only celebrate but also recognize the power of collective efforts in promoting domestic tourism, encouraging agribusiness, and fostering cultural exchange and diversity.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority,  Maame Efua Houadjeto, affirmed the mission of GTA towards the event, describing the food bazaar as showcasing ‘the soul of Ghana’. “From the tantalizing aromas of our diverse dishes to the rhythmic pulse of our traditional dances and the vibrant artistry of our designs, we’re immersing ourselves in the essence of our Heritage Month. As you know, throughout this month, we’ve amplified our message across radio, television, and social media: take pride in our local cuisine and embrace its profound health benefits. We’ve championed the “Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana” mantra, a call to embody our national identity.” she noted

A key highlight of the event was a cooking competition which was held between some of Ghana’s best from the creative arts industry including, Uncle Ato, Victoria Lebene, Mr Beautiful, Joyce Blessing and Okyeame Kwame.

The 68 @ 68 food fair forms an integral part of the Black Star Experience initiative, a strategic program designed to position Ghana as the Gateway to Africa. By showcasing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and warm hospitality, the GTA and other stakeholders continue to maintain the country’s global recognition.
