The Kasoa Old Market Lorry Park came alive over the weekend as Happy 98.9FM kicked off the preliminary stage of 2025 Salah Food Fest 2025, setting the tone for an exciting season of cultural celebration and community engagement.

This year’s opening event welcomed enthusiastic participation from residents, families, and supporters, all gathered to cheer on their respective Zongo communities.

The first round featured a culinary face-off between Fadama Zongo, Sabon Zongo, Tuba Zongo, and Kasoa Zongo — each showcasing a rich array of traditional dishes that reflected the unique flavors of their heritage.

The Salah Food Festival, is a culinary competition designed to celebrate the vibrant food culture within Zongo communities while determining which Zongo boasts the finest chefs and recipes in the country.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Kwabena Ampong, Programs Manager of Happy 98.9 FM, shared his reflections on the kickoff:

“What we witnessed in Kasoa perfectly captures the spirit of the Salah Food Fest — unity, identity, and a proud display of cultural richness. We commend each community for their outstanding participation and the energy they brought. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to an even more exciting journey ahead.”

The Salah Food Fest train will continue its journey through selected communities across the Greater Accra Region, culminating in a thrilling grand finale that promises even more excitement, flavor, and friendly competition.
