Ghanaian highlife artiste, Bisa Kdei in a tweet on May 1, 2020, alleged that the Ghanaian media has been paid not to air his songs and give him the needed attention.

His comment resulted from a Q&A session with his followers on Twitter, where he said that there is an agenda to see him fail. This came as a response to a question specifically on why he does not receive massive airplay.

His reply read “It’s an agenda. They have taken some money to do that. If you love my music keep loving it. The media is fake” #AskBisaKdei https://t.co/KurhXHrNc3

When asked in an interview on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ with DJ Advicer if the tweet was purposefully to promote his new song, the musician responded in the negative. “I didn’t attack the media to promote my song. When I said people are fake you know what I mean. People in the entertainment fraternity started saying I was drowning. When you start saying these things, it changes the perception of people about you and the tweet was meant to dispel that notion”, he said.

Bisa, the first Ghanaian artiste to break into the limelight with a movie soundtrack, ‘Big Boy Weezy’ however mentioned that he was not responsible for the tweet. But because the tweet was sent from his handle and found its way to public, he took responsibility for it. “It was a mistake that happened.”

He reiterated, “I was not using that tweet to promote my music or use it as a publicity stunt. I have not disrespected the media and DJs”.

Bisa however mentioned that it hurts him all the time for people he regards and appreciates in the media fraternity to always say negative stuff about him and still turn up at his annual media parties to celebrate and dine with him.
