Deputy Finance Minister designate, Thomas Nyarko Ampem has expressed confidence in the Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson’s statement of not authorizing payments to any contractor.

According to him, he trusts that Ato Forson has not authorized payments as he stated on X.

“I trust the Finance Minister that, that has not happened”.

Speaking at his vetting before Parliament’s Appointment Committee on Monday February 24, 2025, Nyarko Ampem indicated that though he would not be able to give a vivid answer, his confidence in Ato Forson remains unshaken.

“I won’t be able to say specifically but I have read the finance minister’s post on X, saying that he has not even started payments”.

He added, “so it’s not possible for him to make any payments to any contractor”.

Finance Minister Ato Forson was accused of authorizing payments to some contractors including former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.

The Finance Minister in a post on X on Monday February 24,2025, debunked the claims.

“Friends, since I took office, no contractor including Kennedy Agyapong has been paid a pesewa. We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of all contracts and payment requests to verify their legitimacy.”

The Finance Minister’s statement added, “Please disregard any claims suggesting that I have authorized payment to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong or any other contractor”.
