The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akufo-Addo Dampare has issued a strong warning to political parties and other stakeholders involved in the electoral process, cautioning them against taking matters into their own hands. With the Electoral Commission (EC) set to exhibit the voters’ register on Tuesday, August 20, marking a significant milestone in the lead-up to the polls, the IGP’s warning serves as a reminder to maintain peace and adhere to the rule of law.

In a meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson on Monday August 19, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akufo-Addo Dampare outlined the police’s strategy to ensure a secure and peaceful environment during the exhibition of the voters’ register. He revealed that police personnel would be stationed at all exhibition centers, and emphasized that any attempts to disrupt the process would be met with a firm response.

Additionally, Dr. Dampare assured the EC Chairperson that the police have developed a comprehensive rapid response plan to swiftly address and manage any potential crises or disturbances that may arise, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
