The Ministry of the Interior has officially announced that Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be observed as a statutory public holiday across the country in celebration of May Day, also known as Workers’ Day.

In a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak (MP), the general public is reminded to observe the day as a holiday in recognition of the contributions of workers to national development.

The statement issued on Friday, April 25, 2025, urged all citizens and institutions to take note and comply accordingly.

May Day is celebrated annually to honour the hard work and dedication of workers and to reflect on labour rights and achievements across various sectors of the economy.
