Managing Director of Green Grass Technology, Frank Boahene says clubs in the country should concentrate on improving their pitches.

According to him most of the pitches used in the Ghana Premier League lack maintenance and need improvement.

There have been concerns about some pitches such as the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Sunyani Coronation Park which is not in the best shape and not favorable for television coverage.

“Our pitches need water and the general maintenance is very poor too. Our pitches need more fertilization to maintain its standard”, he told Happy FM.

“There are a lot of things to be done to improve our pitch week after week. We can buy some fertilizers for moisture retention. The weather is also a challenge as well. The groundsmen need help and the clubs must also provide resources.”.

He urged all stakeholders to come on board to improve the quality of pitches in the country.
“The management of the clubs and all stakeholders must meet to know what can be done to improve the quality of our pitches”.

On the other hand the Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku is yet to fulfill his promise on providing boreholes as part of efforts to improve and upgrade the standard of pitches in the country.

Kurt Okraku made this promise during his campaign to become the Ghana Football Association president.
