Abeiku Greene has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Junior Achievement (JA) Ghana effective from August 1, 2020.

JA Ghana is a member of JA Worldwide, one of the world’s largest global, nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering young people to own their economic success by enhancing the relevance of education.

Abeiku takes up the position of Executive Director after serving as Programs Manager for four (4) years. He joined the organization in 2016 to spearhead its relaunch and operations in Ghana after three years of dormancy. He has served as the point person for most of that time.

In February of this year, Abeiku was one of 8 JA staff selected out of over 40 applications from 26 countries for the JA Worldwide 2020-21 Fellowship Program, a competitive 18-month high-potential leadership program, designed to deepen leadership and functional expertise, whilst working on global and regional projects for the JA Network.

Since assuming the role of Programs Manager, Abeiku has engaged over 250 corporate volunteers to dedicate 70,000+ hours of their time to coach more than 5,000 students in over 100 schools. His successful engagements with government and other key stakeholders have resulted in partnerships with over 30 corporations and organizations to extend JA programs and other jointly-curated programs to communities in and outside of Accra.

Before JA Ghana, Abeiku worked with World Education Ghana as District Coordinator in the Kintampo North Municipality, Kintampo South District and the Sene West District in the Bono East Region, where he helped more than 3,000 out-of-school children in rural communities to achieve the minimum proficiency standards in literacy and numeracy required to transition into the formal education system. Under his leadership, more than 2,500 out-of-school children were integrated into the formal school system.

Abeiku holds a master’s degree in Development Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

John Armah, Board Chair of JA Ghana, said “Abeiku has shown exceptional leadership and growth and this vote of confidence showcases JA’s passion for organizational and personnel development and good corporate governance. Abeiku is astute and amiable, a winning combination that will serve him well in this new role. The JA Ghana Board is excited about the future with Abeiku as ED”.

In his response, Abeiku Greene, the new Executive Director of JA Ghana said “I love JA. I have given my best to JA Ghana and received that affirmation back. It has been a privilege to work with all our generous donors and partners in making more young Ghanaians financially literate and empowered to change the world by solving problems through entrepreneurship. My passion is resolute and remains the same even though my lense may have changed. I am confident that with the team at JA Ghana and our ever-growing partnerships, our impact on Ghana’s youth will continue to grow”.
