Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has filed his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership ahead of the 2028 elections.
Mr. Agyapong was at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, accompanied by party executives and close allies. Hundreds of supporters flooded the premises, chanting and waving placards in solidarity.
He becomes the second major figure to officially join the race to succeed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party prepares to elect its next leader.
Addressing the crowd, Mr. Agyapong declared, “Some people have ideas, but I have bold ideas and creativity. We need somebody who can create businesses for the youth of this country.”
Party officials say he has completed all filing requirements and will step up his campaign in the coming weeks.
On Tuesday, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong became the first aspirant to file his nomination forms.
